Arizona Western College announced on May 7 that Shadi Kilani has been selected as the next Executive Vice President of the Entrepreneurial College. In this new role, Dr. Kilani will act as the institution’s chief external ambassador and lead efforts to develop and expand workforce and healthcare programs aimed at supporting regional economic growth.

The appointment comes as Dr. Reetika Dhawan, the previous executive vice president, prepares to assume the role of AWC President effective June 1. Dr. Kilani joins Arizona Western College with more than two decades of leadership experience in higher education, healthcare, and workforce development. He most recently served at Tarrant County College as Division Dean of Health, Business and Industry and Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Kilani to AWC,” Dr. Dhawan said. “His track record of creating strong partnerships with faculty, staff, and employers will be instrumental as we continue to expand opportunities for our students and strengthen the region’s workforce.”

Throughout his career, Dr. Kilani has led accreditation efforts, launched academic initiatives focused on workforce readiness, and integrated industry-recognized certifications into educational programs designed to prepare students for their careers.

“I am honored to join AWC and support its commitment to workforce and healthcare education,” Dr. Kilani said. “I look forward to working alongside colleagues and community partners to expand opportunities for students and prepare them for success.”

Dr. Kilani is scheduled to officially begin his new position on May 18.
