The City of San Luis announced on Jan. 28 the launch of Operation Paw Promise, a new community initiative focused on promoting responsible pet ownership and raising awareness about animal welfare.

Operation Paw Promise aims to ensure the safety, health, and well-being of all pets in the community by providing education, outreach, and collaboration with local partners. The initiative seeks to empower pet owners with resources and knowledge for proper animal care.

Key goals include encouraging responsible pet ownership, increasing awareness about preventing animal cruelty, and fostering community involvement and compassion. The program will involve ongoing partnerships with the Humane Society and other local organizations, as well as public campaigns that share tips on animal safety and information on reporting or preventing cruelty.

“Operation Paw Promise represents more than just a campaign; it’s a community commitment to protecting, respecting, and caring for the animals that share our homes and neighborhoods. Here at the City of San Luis and the San Luis Police Department, we take the Paw Promise to treat animals with kindness, protecting their well-being, and take a stand against cruelty,” city officials said in a statement.

Residents are invited to participate by taking the “I Paw Promise,” pledging kindness toward animals. More details can be found at https://sanluisaz.gov/pawpromise.
