The City of San Luis announced on June 6 that it will host its annual Fourth of July Freedom Celebration, featuring live music, food vendors, and a dedicated Kids Area for families. The event will include performances by the Kumbia Kings, La Ronda Machetera from Monterrey, Nuevo León, and a Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute by Proud Mary and Company.
The celebration aims to bring together residents for an evening of entertainment and community engagement. The city promotes such events as part of its commitment to fostering public participation through open council meetings and gatherings, according to the official website.
A special feature this year is the Kids Area, which will be open exclusively for neurodivergent children from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., before opening to all families at 7:00 p.m. More than 50 local and regional vendors will offer food, drinks, and merchandise throughout the evening. Vendors will accept both cash and card payments; however, no ATMs will be available on-site. Complimentary watermelon will also be served while supplies last.
Attendees are asked not to bring coolers, glass containers, firearms, outside food or alcohol, contraband or illegal substances, personal drones, fireworks, or unauthorized vendors in order to ensure safety during the event.
The City of San Luis provides essential services such as public safety through police and fire departments as well as parks and recreation programs and economic development initiatives according to the official website. The city has grown from a small town into a thriving community in Arizona under a council-manager form of government led by Mayor Nieves Riedel according to the official website.
