The City of San Luis announced on Mar. 11 that beginning April 1, the Pay by Plate parking system will no longer accept card or coin payments at pay stations. Instead, all payments must be made exclusively through the Park Smarter app or by texting PAY to 77447.

This change affects all Pay by Plate and parking meter locations in downtown San Luis. The city is encouraging residents and visitors to familiarize themselves with the digital payment process ahead of the transition. “Still using the Pay Station when parking at one of the City of San Luis Pay by Plate parking spots? You might want to start getting familiarized with the digital process of that,” city officials said in a statement.

To continue using Pay by Plate, users are advised to download the Park Smarter App or use text-to-pay options. For questions about the new system, individuals can contact city staff at 928-341-2420. The city also provided information in Spanish for community members who prefer it: “¿Sigue usando la estación de pago al estacionarse en uno de los espacios de pago por placa de la ciudad de San Luis? Le recomendamos familiarizarse con el proceso digital.”

The City of San Luis promotes community engagement through open council meetings and public events, according to the official website. The city is dedicated to providing essential services such as public safety, parks and recreation, and economic development initiatives according to its official website.
