Holiday of Lights Parade returns to San Luis on December 11

The City of San Luis announced on Oct. 23 that the Holiday of Lights Parade will return on Thursday, December 11, bringing together residents and visitors for an evening of illuminated floats, live music, marching bands, and community participation.

The event is a longstanding tradition in San Luis and is expected to draw families, local businesses, and community groups. The parade will begin at Urtuzuastegui Street and 10th Avenue at 6:30 p.m., proceed west along Urtuzuastegui Street, turn right onto 8th Avenue, and conclude at Southwest Junior High. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early for the best viewing spots.

Parade entry applications are now open for those interested in participating with floats, vehicles, marching bands, or performances. Applications can be submitted online or in person at the Parks and Recreation Administration Building located at 744 E. Cesar Chavez Boulevard or by email. Entries will be judged in several categories including Best Automobile, Best Entertainment, Best Float, Best Marching Band, Open Category, Music Category, with one winner receiving the Merriest Award.

“The Holiday of Lights Parade is a highlight of San Luis’s festive season, bringing together families, local businesses, and community groups to celebrate the holidays,” said Angelica Roldan, Director of Parks and Recreation. “We are so excited to welcome everyone to join the fun, decorate, and bask in this bright, joyful celebration,” she added.
