The City of San Luis announced on July 15 that a new traffic signal at the intersection of Avenue F and San Luis Lane is now fully operational. The project, led by Somerton School District No.11 and Yuma County, aims to improve safety in an area with significant school and neighborhood traffic.
The installation is intended to enhance pedestrian safety and reduce congestion during busy school hours. The intersection now includes signalized crosswalks and updated traffic control technology to create a safer environment for students, families, and commuters.
To help drivers adjust, the new signal will operate in flashing mode until Friday, July 18 before switching to full operation. Jenny Torres, Acting City Manager, said, “While not a city-led project, the City of San Luis supports and applauds this effort to increase safety for students, families, and community members who regularly travel through this intersection. Another great project for the community!”
