Rep. John Gillette, a Republican elected in 2023 to represent Arizona’s 30th House District, posted a series of tweets on January 4, 2026, addressing the recent actions taken by former President Donald Trump against Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

In his first tweet at 15:03 UTC, Gillette wrote: “Wake up, America. President Trump just delivered justice to narco-dictator Nicolás Maduro, lawfully and decisively. This action rest firm on U.S. law and constitutional authority:

50 U.S.C. §1701 (IEEPA) and related executive authorities
2020 DOJ indictments under 21 U.S.C. §960 https://t.co/cAqDPX2l7o

Later that day at 18:50 UTC, he posted: “Remember when Democrats said… Nobody is above the law! Unless they get their cut. https://t.co/GiJ3sv2grl”

At 22:39 UTC, Gillette added: “Democrats do not support the capture of Maduro, allowing for a free Venezuela. The Churches will be packed all week. This is setting the leftist hair on fire. https://t.co/5LjEijjbGM”

Gillette has represented Arizona’s LD30 since replacing Christian Solorio in the state legislature following his election in 2023.

The references in Gillette’s posts include mention of U.S. legal authorities such as the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), codified at 50 U.S.C. §1701, and Department of Justice indictments from 2020 under federal drug trafficking statutes.
