Rep. John Gillette, a Republican representing Arizona’s 30th House District, used his Twitter account on May 12 and 13, 2026, to raise concerns about the Arizona Department of Education’s (ADE) handling of federal funds and to comment on state education spending.

On May 12, Gillette cited findings from an audit regarding the ADE’s reporting of federal subawards: “The Single Audit found ADE failed to report complete and accurate federal subaward information for nearly $5.3 million in Title I, $887,450 in Title II, and over $11.8 million in ESSER subawards. For ESSER alone, ADE failed to report required information for 3 subawards totaling”.

Later that day, he referenced the Joint Legislative Budget Committee’s summary on education funding: “State education spending is increasing. JLBC’s FY 2026 General Fund summary states ADE General Fund spending increases by $404.8 million, or 5.1% above the final FY 2025 appropriation. JLBC also reports FY 2026 total state spending, including appropriated and non-appropriated”.

On May 13, Gillette addressed another issue involving an individual named Oscar: “Oscar needs to answer for why he puts Illegals first and Arizonans last- not not dodge citizen questions.”

Gillette was elected to the Arizona State House in 2023 to represent District 30 after replacing Christian Solorio.
