The City of San Luis announced on Sep. 2 that its Annual Community Cleanup Campaign will begin on Monday, September 29, giving residents the opportunity to dispose of bulky items not collected during regular garbage service.

The campaign is intended to help keep neighborhoods clean and free of clutter by allowing residents to set out items such as appliances, furniture, carpets, and televisions for collection. According to the city, all tree debris must be tied up in bundles no longer than four feet, leaves must be bagged, and tires will only be accepted without rims. Hazardous waste—including motor oil, pesticides, paint, and pool chemicals—will not be collected. Construction materials, vehicles or vehicle parts are also excluded from pickup. Residents are asked to place appliances, tires, computers, and televisions separately for collection.

Residents will receive information about their designated collection dates and zones through city communication channels in the coming weeks. Manuel Hernandez, Assistant Director of Public Works, said: “This campaign is one of our city’s most valued services. The city encourages all residents to take advantage of this service to help keep neighborhoods clean and free of clutter.”
