The City of San Luis announced on Dec. 9 that its updated Business License Fee Schedule and several new business license types will take effect starting December 12, 2025. The changes were approved by the San Luis City Council during a regular meeting held on November 12, following all required public notice and hearing procedures.
This update marks the first change to business license fees in over two decades. The city said operational costs for processing applications and providing services such as inspections have increased significantly since the last adjustment. The revised fees are intended to ensure that licensing remains fair, transparent, and aligned with the actual cost of delivering these services.
“As our community continues to grow, it’s essential that our processes and fee structures keep pace,” said Jenny Torres, Acting City Manager. “Updating our business license fees ensures we can continue providing efficient, high-quality services that support both new and existing businesses in San Luis,” she said.
Alongside the fee adjustments, San Luis has introduced new business license classifications, including one specifically for Cottage Food Program operators. This category is designed to help home-based food producers comply with regulations while supporting local entrepreneurship. Details about the updated schedule and descriptions of new licenses are available through the city’s official website or Business License division.
