The City of San Luis will implement a revised Business License Fee Schedule and introduce several new business license types starting December 12, 2025. The changes were approved by the San Luis City Council at its regular meeting on November 12, 2025, after all required public notice and hearing procedures.

This marks the first update to the city’s business license fees in over two decades. The city cited rising operational costs for processing applications and conducting business and fire inspections as key reasons for the update. According to city officials, the revised fee structure is intended to reflect the actual cost of delivering these services.

Jenny Torres, Acting City Manager, said, “As our community continues to grow, it’s essential that our processes and fee structures keep pace. Updating our business license fees ensures we can continue providing efficient, high-quality services that support both new and existing businesses in San Luis.”

Alongside updating existing fees, San Luis has added new business license classifications. One notable addition is a category for Cottage Food Program operators, which provides home-based food producers with a clear path to compliance and supports local entrepreneurship.

Details about the updated fee schedule and descriptions of new license types are available on the City of San Luis’ official website and through its Business License division. The city also invites residents to view Resolution No. 2382 adopting these changes.
