The City of San Luis conducted a special election on November 4, 2025, allowing residents to vote on two key issues: the potential sale of property owned by the San Luis Facility Development Corporation and Proposition 434 regarding compensation for city officials.
On the first question, voters were asked if the City or its Facility Development Corporation should be allowed to sell all real and personal property associated with the San Luis Regional Detention and Support Center at public auction for a period of three years starting November 20, 2025. According to preliminary results released at 8:16 p.m., 38.90% (517 votes) supported the measure while 61.10% (812 votes) opposed it.
Proposition 434 addressed whether the Mayor and Councilpersons should serve as volunteers without any compensation, benefits, or travel allowances. The proposition also stated that no reimbursement would be provided for travel, meal, or lodging expenses incurred by elected officers for any reason, and nullified existing city laws granting such compensation or allowances. Preliminary results showed that 42.96% (574 votes) voted in favor while 57.04% (762 votes) voted against it.
“Results become official once canvassed by the San Luis City Council.”
