The City of San Luis announced on Feb. 20 the arrival and installation of new stadium-style lighting at Joe Orduño Park, a venue known for hosting community celebrations, baseball exhibition games, and organized sports for youth and adults.
The project is part of an effort to improve recreational facilities and enhance the experience for park users. The Parks and Recreation Department worked with Musco Sports Lighting to install a Relight Structure System that upgrades existing lighting to energy-efficient LED technology while keeping the original light poles and structures. This method helped reduce project costs, improved lighting quality, and is expected to lower electricity expenses over time.
A notable feature of the new system is its ability to provide customized light shows during special events. Staff can now activate celebratory effects such as home-run light shows during baseball games, offering a professional stadium-like atmosphere similar to what is seen at Arizona Cardinals Stadium.
“The lighting project allows us to serve our community better,” said Angelica Roldan, Director of Parks and Recreation. “Not only are we improving visibility, safety, and the overall user experience at Joe Orduño Park during events and activities,” she added.
