The Parker Town Council has announced on March 17 that Parker officials will increase water rates that will go into effect on July 1.
The council also said it will hold another meeting on June 16 to discuss the matter further.
Public Works Director Steve Ziegler wrote a memo to the council highlighting that Parker teamed up with Hinton Burdick CPAs & Associates who conducted a water study that ended in June of 2016.
The report concluded that a phased-in rate increase was needed. The increase would gradually increase over a five-year period.
Records reveal that the core charge for a 5/8-inch meter would go from $10.25 per month to $10.54 per month. That also includes a 3/4-inch meter. The rates will increase by 29 cents.
Additionally, records show that a six-inch meter would increase from $83.48 per month to $86.08 per month. That is an increase of $2.60 per month.
Town Council officials encourage residents to visit the Town Hall at 1314 11th Street or call 928-669-9265 for more information.
