The Alternative Spending Limitation, or the home rule, will be on the Town of Parker's November ballot for voter approval, Parker Pioneer reported.
Every four years the town's voters need to re-approve the home rule, which allows the town to determine its expenditures instead of using a pre-set formula from Arizona.
The home rule won't increase taxes, but it lets cities and towns decide how to spend their funds instead of following state guidelines, according to Parker Pioneer.
In Arizona, 49 other towns and cities use the home rule. But before putting the Alternative Spending Limitation on the ballot, municipalities have to hold two public hearings on the home rule, which will allow the city or town council to vote on the home rule.
It must be two-thirds approved and the council will have to publish its excess expenditures plan for the community to be able view, Parker Pioneer reported.
