SAN LUIS: Face Coverings in Public Spaces

San Luis issued the following announcement on June 17

This evening at 6:35 p.m., Mayor Gerardo Sanchez alongside Vice Mayor Maria Cecilia Cruz signed a proclamation and continued Declaration of Emergency mandating face coverings in public spaces this will go into effect immediately (June 17, 2020). This proclamation was attested by City Administrator Tadeo A. De La Hoya and witnessed, and supported by Fire Chief Angel Ramirez and Police Lieutenant Marco Santana.

The City of San Luis Proclamation mandates for everyone in San Luis to wear a face covering while out in public places such as the post office, stores, restaurants, parks, etc. All face coverings must cover the person’s nose and mouth and must fit while allowing the user to breathe easily. Those individuals who are two (2) years old or younger and people diagnosed with certain medical conditions that preclude them from wearing one.

“It is very alarming what is happening in Yuma County and in our city, it is time to do more,” said Mayor Gerardo Sanchez. “As a resident, we all must do our end to help flatten the curve, it is now up to us San Luis, wear a mask,” he added.

The City of San Luis continues to work alongside Yuma County Health Department, Yuma Regional Medical Center, state, and federal agencies to ensure the safety and healthy well-being of all residents. Currently in Yuma County, there are 3,627 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
