The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) recently teamed up with The Arizona Land and Water Trust to secure 477 acres of land in Tucson, Arizona.
The partnership formed to obtain 477 acres of land appropriating the Land and Water Conservation Fund.
According to William Perry Pendley, BLM's deputy director for policy and programs, the purchase will provide and improve the access to the 5,080-acre Coyote Mountains Wilderness Area. The land is located roughly 40 miles southwest of Tucson.
Pendley also said that the acquirement of the land will increase opportunities for residents who like to hunt and hike.
“This acquisition supports the administration’s ongoing efforts to expand and improve access for hunting and other recreational activities on public land,” Pendley said in a press release. “We are excited about the increased opportunities this acquisition will provide to those that hunt and recreate in this area.”
