Yuma County Election Services is in need of poll workers for the general election and is looking for residents in the county interested in helping.
Poll workers are essential to elections and Yuma County still needs more for the upcoming November election, according to a press release from the county. Poll workers keep the polling stations running smoothly by assisting voters when they need help and providing a positive voting experience.
"Poll workers receive a stipend based on their assignment and may be eligible for additional pay if they are bilingual and assigned to provide language services to voters at a Vote Center," Yuma County said in the press release. "Poll workers must be a registered voter in Arizona and a resident of Yuma County. Current high school students ages 16 and 17 can participate as a poll worker with permission from their parent or guardian and school. Training is required to become a poll worker."
To apply to work as a poll worker, individuals can do so at Yuma County Election Services website.
On Tuesday, Nov. 3, polling sites will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Poll workers will have to be at the sites from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
