Mohave County issued the following announcement on July 27.

Mohave County has the highest case rate per 100,000 (176 per 100k) and percentage positivity (19.1%) across the state. The week of July 17th had a 15.5% increase in new cases compared to the previous week. In the last two weeks (7/4-7/17), Mohave County saw a 43% increase compared to the previous two weeks. The average age of cases is also decreasing. 

Throughout the pandemic, the average age of cases is 47.0 year old. In May and June the average ages were 42.9 and 40.4 years old respectively. July has a current average age of 39.8 years old. July has so far seen a relatively even distribution of cases among age groups greater than 10 years.

Death Trends 

As the pandemic has progressed, the average age of death has decreased. In 2020, the average age was 75.9. In 2021, this decreased to 72.3 years old. We continue to see an increasing number of deaths in the younger age groups. In May and June, the average age of death dropped to around 65 years old (64.1 for May, 65.5 for June), compared to 74.5 for the entire pandemic. In July, the average further  decreased to 62.6. However, as there is often a several week different between diagnosis date and death, this number will change as more deaths are reported In May and June, 32% and 25% of deaths were under 60 years of age, compared to 11% for the entire pandemic. Currently in July, 37.5% of deaths are under 60.
