Yuma County issued the following announcement on Oct. 22.
Yuma County Health Officials confirm 28 new cases of COVID-19 and 0 new deaths, bringing the total cases to 41,306 and total deaths to 903. Health officials are conducting contact investigations.
Vaccination is the best way to protect yourself, your family, and your community against COVID-19. Vaccines are effective in preventing severe illness, hospitalization, and death; they also help reduce the spread of the virus in our community.
The Health District is providing COVID-19 vaccine clinics Monday through Thursday from 8:30 am to 11:30 am and 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm throughout the month of October. Walk-ins are welcome. Only Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be available.
The Moderna vaccine currently can be given to anyone age 18 and over. More information can be found on the CDC's website.

Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Booster Update:
Federal officials are recommending that Arizonans 65 and older, residents of long-term care facilities, and those ages 50 to 64 with underlying medical conditions get a booster dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine if they are at least six months past their second shot. In addition, Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance says those ages 18 to 64 in high-risk professional and institutional settings and those ages 18 to 49 with underlying medical conditions may get a booster dose of Pfizer at least six months after their second shot, based on their individual benefits and risks.
NOTE: THIS BOOSTER APPLIES ONLY FOR THOSE THAT HAVE RECEIVED BOTH DOSES OF THE Pfizer-BioNTech PRIMARY SERIES.
The Health District is providing COVID-19 Rapid Testing for school personnel and allied health professionals by appointment only. Testing is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 11:00 am. Please call 928-317-4540 to schedule an appointment.
