Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) Yuma County UPDATES on January 24, 2022

Yuma county issued the following announcement on Jan. 24.

Yuma County Health Officials confirm 644 new cases of COVID-19 and 0 new deaths, bringing the total cases to 55,817 and total deaths to 1,028. Health officials are conducting contact investigations.

WEEKEND NUMBERS:

Saturday, January 22 - 818 new cases, 0 deaths

Sunday, January 23 - 757 new cases, *4 deaths

*NOTE: Based on the ADHS/County Vital Records Surveillance information, deaths reported occurred as described below:

  • 1/8/2022 (1)
  • 1/11/2022 (1)
  • 1/12/2022 (1)
  • 1/13/2022 (1)
Vaccination is the best way to protect yourself, your family, and your community against COVID-19. Vaccines are effective in preventing severe illness, hospitalization, and death; they also help reduce the spread of the virus in our community.

The Health District is providing COVID-19 vaccine clinics Monday through Thursday from 8:30 am to 11:30 am and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. You must schedule an appointment. Please call for an appointment at (928) 317-4550.

NOTE: The Yuma County Public Health Services District is now offering the Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine, authorized for children and adolescents ages 5-11.

The Moderna vaccine currently can be given to anyone age 18 and over. More information can be found on the CDC's website.

Due to overwhelming demand for both initial vaccine and booster appointments, the Yuma County Public Health District is no longer taking walk-ins and are asking the public to call (928) 317-4550 to make an appointment.

COVID-19 Booster Update:

Yuma County Public Health Services District is offering COVID-19 Booster Vaccines for anyone eligible. Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are available; however, doses of Johnson & Johnson may be limited. Please call ahead for availability at 928-317-4550. You must schedule an appointment.

NOTE: Local pharmacies, primary care physicians and clinics like Sunset Health and Regional Center for Border Health also have vaccines for boosters

Free At-Home COVID-19 Tests

Every home in the U.S. can order four free at-home COVID-19 tests from www.covidtests.gov or www.usps.com/covidtest. They are completely free, with no shipping charges, and you do not need to enter a credit card number.
