Yuma law enforcement agencies will be participating in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. The event will return this year as a relay with each agency carrying and passing on the Flame of Hope. The relay will begin in San Luis, AZ. at 1st Avenue and Urtuzuastegui at 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, and conclude at 300 N. 4th Avenue in Yuma at the Quartermaster Depot at approximately 10:00 a.m.
The community and local media are encouraged to come out to support and cheer on the runners to include joining us at the reception at the Quartermaster Depot. The torch run, along with other fundraisers put on in the community by the various law enforcement agencies help raise funds for the Special Olympics Athletes of Yuma.
With your generous support, the Yuma Police Department has raised over $35,000.00 with successful fundraisers such as the Scary & Safe Trick or Treat held at the Yuma Fairgrounds, Fuel of Dreams, Show you Care change your Hair and the sales of our K-9 stuffed animals.
