The Financial Services Department of Yuma County, Arizona, has once again been recognized for its exceptional financial reporting. The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) recently awarded the department the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 22nd consecutive year.

In a statement, the GFOA highlighted the importance of the award, stating that the Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. The award signifies a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

According to the report, the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022, met the high standards of the program set by the GFOA. The reports were commended for demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to effectively communicate the financial story of Yuma County.

The ACFR consists of three sections, including the Introductory section, Financial section, and Statistical section. These sections provide a comprehensive overview of Yuma County's financial performance and operating environment, as well as demographic information about the county.

The PAFR, also known as the citizens' annual financial report, aims to simplify and present the County's financial information in an easily understandable format. The report serves as a tool to enhance public confidence in the County government and its elected officials through transparent financial reporting.

The Financial Services Department encourages the public to visit their website to access these reports and others that demonstrate the department's commitment to accountability and fiscal responsibility in managing the County's finances. Printed copies of the reports are also available in County libraries, the main Administration building, and at the Financial Services Department.

For further inquiries or additional copies of the report, individuals are encouraged to contact the Financial Services Department at (928) 373-1012.
