Agents with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Yuma Sector have released December statistics for the sector, noting that agents arrested 1,500 foreign nationals from 43 countries. This information came from a January 3 post on X by CBP's Chief Patrol Agent in the Yuma Sector.
According to the post, in addition to the arrests of foreign nationals, CBP agents responded to five 9-1-1 calls, stopped four drug smuggling attempts, and intercepted three human smuggling cases. Agents also rescued one individual.
The Yuma Sector, as described on CBP's webpage dedicated to it, spans 181,670 square miles of desert between California and Arizona. It includes 126 miles of the U.S. border stretching from the Imperial Sand Dunes to the Yuma-Pima County Line. Over the last two decades, this sector has doubled in size since its establishment in 2004. The sector encompasses three border stations: Blythe in California and two others in Arizona—Yuma and Wellton.
