FOIA Request to Yuma County Elections Office Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at SW Arizona News have sent a request under the Arizona Public Records Law § 39.101 et seq., to the Yuma County Elections Office. The request was made for records of all candidates running in the upcoming election.
The specific details requested include the candidate's first, middle, and last names, the office they are running for, the jurisdiction of that office, and their party affiliation. In addition to these details, we also requested contact information for each candidate which includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that as media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver.
