Yuma CBP agents arrest 5 in failed smuggling attempt

Agents with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Yuma Sector arrested four illegal aliens and a smuggler during the first full week of February, according to a February 9 post on X.

The individuals arrested include four Mexican nationals and a U.S. citizen, according to the post. The driver, a male, faces smuggling charges, while the illegal aliens have been charged with illegal entry.

According to CBP’s dedicated webpage, the Yuma Sector covers 181,670 square miles of desert between California and Arizona, including 126 miles of the U.S. border. Established in 2004, the sector has doubled in size and includes three border stations: Blythe, Yuma, and Wellton.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), a federal law enforcement agency under the Department of Homeland Security, safeguards the nation's borders and prevents illegal entry. Since its founding in 1924, CBP has operated across 328 ports of entry and protects 7,000 miles of land borders and 95,000 miles of maritime borders.
