Agents with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Yuma Sector's Wellton Station announced the arrest of six individuals, including four convicted felons, in a recent operation aimed at addressing illegal immigration and criminal activity in the region. This information was shared by the Yuma Sector Chief Patrol Agent on X on February 27.

According to the post, all six individuals will face charges related to re-entry after removal and failure to be inspected upon entry. The four convicted felons have been identified as Agustin Galvan Ortiz, Luis Carlos Guerrero Felix, Jose Angel Gastelum Atondo, and Rosario Aboyte Arredondo.

The Wellton Station has a history dating back to 1955 when two patrol inspectors were assigned to work in Wellton and Tacna. In 1967, CBP established the Tacna Border Patrol Station, and the Wellton Border Station was officially opened in 1990 as part of the expanding Yuma Sector. The station's agents patrol 65 miles of international border, operate Camp Grip—a remote forward operating base—and run a checkpoint.

The Yuma Sector itself was established in 2004 and covers an area of 181,670 square miles between California and Arizona, encompassing 126 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border. Over time, it has expanded to include three border stations: Blythe, Yuma, and Wellton.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), under the Department of Homeland Security, is responsible for safeguarding national borders against illegal entry of people and contraband. Established in 1924, CBP operates across 328 ports of entry nationwide.
