Yuma Transfer and Career Expo connects students with employers and universities

Arizona Western College (AWC) will open the Desert Southwest Transfer Conference with the Yuma Transfer and Career Expo on March 2. The event is organized by AWC Career & Advisement Services and Transfer Services, aiming to provide students with information about educational transfers, career paths, job openings, volunteer roles, and internships.

More than 30 employers, agencies, organizations, and universities are expected to participate in the expo. The event targets AWC students, alumni, and partner university students. It will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the 3C Hall of Fame at the AWC-Yuma Campus.

Angela Amezaga, AWC Transfer Services and Program Coordinator, said: “The Yuma Transfer and Career Expo is for all students to explore career and educational opportunities. It is never too early to start planning for their future.”

Participants can contact the AWC Transfer Center for more information via email at transfer.center@azwestern.edu or by phone at (928) 344-7638.

Employers such as Arizona Army National Guard, Gowan Company, Republic Services, San Luis Police Department, United States Border Patrol, Wellcare, Yuma County Sheriff’s Office and others are scheduled to attend. Universities participating include Arizona State University (including ASU Local Yuma), CETYS Universidad, Loyola Marymount University, Grand Canyon University, National University, New Mexico State University, Northern Arizona University, Park University, University of Arizona and University of Maryland Global Campus.

Departments from within AWC like Career and Advisement Services as well as Continuing Education Department will also be present.

Arizona Western College hosts college experience event for fifth graders

Arizona Western College recently hosted over 70 fifth graders from James B. Rolle Elementary School for its semi-annual I’m Going to College event. Students experienced mock orientation sessions and mini classes designed to introduce them early on to higher education opportunities.
