Nine people are looking to fill the four Parker Town Council seats that are left vacant, including the seat held by Mayor Dan Beaver, who was on the council for more than 13 years and served as mayor for nine years.
Beaver has announced that he won’t go another round and told Parker Pioneer, “I feel like I’m termed out. I feel like I’ve been there a long time and I’ve done the best I can.”
He took the oath on June 5, 2007, after winning the election to the council in March 2007. He was later elected mayor in June 2011, taking after Steve Madoneczky.
Beaver said he wants to enjoy his family with the extra time he’ll have.
“They’re growing up, and I’m missing them growing up," he said.
Still, he’ll keep pretty busy as the owner of Ford car dealership, Parker Motor Company.
Residents will cast their votes on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
