AWC to celebrate La Paz County graduates

Arizona Western College will be celebrating the achievements of La Paz County degree and certificate recipients on Thursday, May 5.

Graduates will be honored with a certificate of recognition for their accomplishments during the La Paz County Celebration of Leaders in Education event. The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. at the Parker Community Center, 1109 Geronimo Ave.

Special awards will be given out to students who have been selected by their professors. Awards will include the AWC La Paz Student Dedication to Higher Education Award, the AWC La Paz Outstanding Student Achievement Award, and the Presidential Award. High school students who are dual-enrolled at AWC will also be recognized during the ceremony.

AWC President Dr. Daniel Corr will be speaking during the event as well as Associate Dean for La Paz County Services Katheline Ocampo, Outreach and Student Services Coordinator Jose Lizarraga, Center Support Specialist Sabrina Rather, English Professor Yaneli Pasillas-Miller, and Vice President for Student Services Bryan Doak. Student speakers will include Savannaa Lloyd and Tom Yellowhair.
