La Paz County’s districts student body comprised mostly of Latino students in 2021-22 school year

The majority of students in La Paz County districts were Latino in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Arizona Department of Education.

Of the 2,385 students attending school districts within La Paz County, 50.4% were Latino. American indian or alaskan native students were the second largest ethnicity in La Paz County districts (23.4%).

In the previous school year, Latino students still were the most common group in La Paz County districts, representing 52.4% of the student body.

Wenden Elementary District had the most even distribution of races among county districts, which included 38% Latino students and 30% white students.

In the 2021-22 school year, the total number of students enrolled in school districts in the county increased 1.9% when compared to the previous year.

The main offices of all districts mentioned in the story are located in cities associated with La Paz County.

WalletHub claimed Arizona’s school system ranked among the worst across U.S. for class size, performance, funding, safety, and instructors’ credentials.

A 2023 study from Scholaroo.com ranked Arizona last out of all U.S. states in terms of educational success, giving the state poor markets for school quality, student success, and teacher-to-student ratio.
