Yuma County Announces the Process for the Interim Appointment and for the Filing for Candidates for Election to the Position of Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2

YUMA COUNTY, AZ – The resignation of Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Juan Guerrero created a vacancy that the Yuma County Board of Supervisors will fill by appointment until a candidate is elected to the office.

For the appointment, the Board of Supervisors is seeking applicants who meet specific criteria, including being registered as a member of the Democratic Party in Arizona, residing within the boundaries of JP2, and understanding the English language.

Applicants interested in the appointment must submit a letter of interest along with a resume either in person or by email to the Yuma County Human Resources Department. The deadline for applications is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024, for consideration by the Board of Supervisors.

To be on the ballot for the position of Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2, interested candidates must file nomination papers by April 1, 2024. The required paperwork can be obtained from the Yuma County Recorder/Voter and Election Services.

The qualifications to be a candidate for this position, as outlined by the announcement, include being a registered voter in Arizona, residing in the justice court precinct, and understanding the English language.
