Following the appointment of Dustin “Dusty” Fields as Chief of the Yuma Fire Department, a selection process commenced for Assistant Chief. YFD is proud to announce that John Louser has been selected as Assistant Chief for Operations.

Chief Louser has served with the Yuma Fire Department since 2003. Over the last 19 years, he has held the positions of Firefighter/Paramedic, Hazardous Materials Technician, Fire Engineer, Fire Captain, Training Captain, and Battalion Chief. Most recently he has served as the Acting Assistant Chief, being assigned to that position in May after Chief Fields became the Acting Fire Chief.

Chief Louser has a Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management, working on a Master’s Degree, and is a Certified Public Manager. John is a Yuma native.

When asked about his promotion, Chief Louser said “I appreciate the opportunity I have been given to serve the citizens of the City of Yuma and the Yuma Fire Department family”. He went on to say he was looking forward to working with Chief Fields, “in continuing to maintain our professional standards as we grow with our community.”
